Choosing a medical school is about more than campus location. It is also about the clinical environments you will train in, the healthcare systems you will encounter, and how well your education prepares you for an increasingly international medical career.

New Anglia University (NAU) is an international medical university based in Anguilla, a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean. Its model combines campus-based Basic Sciences with early clinical exposure, then supervised clinical training across a network of more than 50 hospitals and healthcare organisations in the United States and United Kingdom.

The Four-Year Medical Doctor (MD) Program

The four-year MD is designed for students who already have suitable prior university-level education and are ready for an intensive medical curriculum — often compared to a U.S.-style MD structure.

  • Basic Sciences (~20 months, Anguilla): Biomedical sciences, labs, simulation, and practical clinical skills on campus.
  • Early clinical exposure: Supervised observation in Anguilla healthcare settings (including emergency care and pathology services such as autopsy observation) begins during Basic Sciences — not only after formal rotations start.
  • Clinical Sciences (72 weeks): Supervised rotations across NAU’s international clinical network, plus electives.

Premedical Pathway (5-Year Route)

Students who need additional scientific preparation can start with the Premedical Program, then progress into the MD. Official Premedical entry requirements include a high school diploma and strong English (B2 level). Successful completion makes students eligible for the 4-year MD.

Who Is This Pathway For?

  • Applicants seeking an international MD pathway with clinical exposure in the US/UK after Caribbean Basic Sciences
  • Students with prior university study who want a focused 4-year MD route
  • High-school leavers who need a Premedical year before MD entry
  • Learners comfortable studying across countries, cultures, and healthcare systems

MD Entry Requirements (Official Overview)

Per New Anglia University’s entry requirements page, MD applicants typically need:

  • Option A: Minimum three-year undergraduate education with GPA of at least 3.0 (preferably a BSc), covering humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences; or
  • Option B: Premedical course requirements of 90 credits in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Psychology, and Sociology
  • Strong English language command (B2)

Always confirm the latest requirements, intakes, and fees on the official site before applying.

International Clinical Education Model

Rather than limiting training to one campus or health system, NAU combines:

  1. Campus-based science and early clinical exposure in Anguilla
  2. Extensive supervised clinical education across affiliated hospitals in the United States and United Kingdom

That structure aims to build clinical knowledge, communication, professionalism, and adaptability across different patient populations and systems.

How to Explore and Apply

  1. Review programmes and FAQs on newanglia.com.
  2. Check entry requirements for Premedical vs MD routes.
  3. Submit an enquiry or contact admissions (email info@newanglia.com; regional offices listed on the university site).
  4. Confirm intakes, visas for Anguilla study, financing options, and licensing goals for your target country.

Note: Licensing and residency pathways depend on your citizenship, exam results, and destination-country rules at graduation. Research USMLE/PLAB (or other) requirements carefully.
