What Is the EBID Young Professionals Programme?
Within its Young Professionals Programme, EBID recruits young graduates from universities and tertiary institutions in West Africa and the diaspora to build a pipeline of future Bank leaders.
During the appointment, Young Trainee Professional Staff are posted to different departments on a rotational basis, work under senior staff, and become familiar with EBID’s activities, policies, and programmes. They are treated as Professional staff of the Bank for the duration of the appointment, even though they are not hired specifically to fill vacant posts.

Citizens of the following ECOWAS countries may apply: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo.
Programme Benefits & Conditions
- Appointment as Young Trainee Professional Staff under a two-year fixed-term contract
- Six-month probation - satisfactory performance may convert to an open-ended (permanent) contract
- Conditions of service corresponding to grade P1-1 on the EBID staff classification and salary scale
- Salary plus allowances such as post adjustment, housing and transport, and family grant where applicable

Who Can Apply
- Citizen of an ECOWAS Member State
- Under 30 years of age at the time of recruitment
- Master’s degree or equivalent in a field related to Bank activities (e.g. finance, economics, accounting, law, business administration, engineering, IT, HR, risk management, audit, communications/marketing, infrastructure, public/private sector operations, language services, or other relevant disciplines)
- Ability to work in a team and under pressure in a multicultural environment
- Strong analytical, organisational, planning, and research skills
- Good knowledge of office tools (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint)
- Fluent in English, French, or Portuguese, with working knowledge of one of the other two languages
Recruitment Process
Shortlisted candidates are invited for written and oral tests at EBID headquarters in Lomé. Assessments typically cover:
- Technical skills
- Potential and personality / motivation
- Computer skills
- Verbal and written communication in at least two of the three Bank working languages (English, French, Portuguese)
Only shortlisted candidates are contacted. EBID may withdraw vacancies or offer a position at a lower grade.
