Applications are now open for the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarship 2026 - 2027 in Germany. This fully funded scholarship supports undergraduate and postgraduate students who wish to study in Germany. The scholarship provides a monthly stipend of up to €1,500, along with health insurance coverage and, where applicable, family and childcare allowances. Each year, up to 40 outstanding students are selected based on academic or artistic excellence and a strong commitment to the values of social democracy. In addition to financial support, recipients benefit from a comprehensive seminar program designed to enhance academic abilities, leadership skills, and social competence.
Eligibility Criteria
- Languages Required: German or English
- Talented students from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe are eligible.
- Candidates must exhibit a high level of academic or career potential.
- must be enrolled in or admitted to a German state or state-recognized higher education institution.
- Even if the curriculum is taught in English, competency in German is necessary (DSH-2, TestDaF level 4, or Goethe Institute C1).
- Candidates ought to demonstrate a strong dedication to social democratic principles.
- Outstanding academic achievement in school and prior research

Benefits
- EUR 750 monthly stipend for programs leading to a bachelor’s, diploma, master’s, or state examination
- A monthly cash award of EUR 992 is given to master’s students, and their health insurance is entirely paid.
- Scholarship recipients who have children are entitled to an extra EUR 160 each month.
- In addition to a monthly payment for statutory health insurance, doctoral applicants receive EUR 1,500.
- Scholars with children receive a family allowance of EUR 276, and health insurance costs are paid.
