Applications are currently being accepted for the 2025 Global Korea Scholarship (GKS), which is available for undergraduate degrees. There is no IELTS score requirement for this fully funded scholarship, which is offered by the South Korean government. There are now 367 scholarships available for the 2025 intake, with 87 going to international students via the Embassy Track and 280 going to students from other countries through the University Track.

Applicants must apply through the Korean Embassy in their home country in order to use the Embassy Track application process. Applicants may submit a direct application to any of the listed South Korean universities for the University Track. Below is a comprehensive, step-by-step application process outline.

Education Requirements

  • Applicants who already hold a bachelor’s degree are ineligible.
  • Applicants with an associate degree are only eligible to apply for a bachelor’s degree program.

Academic Requirements

The minimum CGPA requirement is as follows

  • 2.64 out of 4.0
  • 2.80 out of 4.3
  • 2.91 out of 4.5
  • 3.23 out of 5.0

Alternatively, applicants must be in the top 20% of their class with a score percentile of 80% or above.

Age Requirement: Applicants must be under 25 years of age.

Health Condition: Applicants must be in good health, both mentally and physically.

Legal Requirement: Applicants must have a clean criminal record.

  • Eligibility by Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of countries other than South Korea; Korean citizens are not eligible to apply.

  • Support for Theses and Dissertations: Payment for printing expenses related to these types of projects.
  • Medical insurance: Pays for medical costs and guarantees access to care while the student is enrolled in the program.
  • Degree Completion Grants: Financial help granted following successful completion of the degree.
  • Korean Language Proficiency Grants: Extra funding awarded for mastering the Korean language.
