The Mastercard Scholarship at Makerere University offers its recipients substantial benefits with the goal of enabling them to pursue their education without financial limitations and enabling them to become leaders in their communities.

For the second phase of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, which runs from 2023 to 2034, the Mastercard Foundation and Makerere University have decided to continue their partnership.

In the second phase of the program, 1000 scholarships will be awarded over a ten-year period to fund undergraduate and graduate studies at the Main Campus of Makerere University.

Eligibility criteria

  • Be eligible for admission to the main campus of Makerere University.
  • Completed advanced coursework in an African nation, or the equivalent (for applicants applying for undergraduate degrees).
  • Completed studies for a bachelor’s degree in an African nation (for master’s applicants).
  • Show your capacity for leadership and your history of community involvement.
  • Not be eligible for any other scholarships.
  • Regarding Applicants Who Are Undergraduates:.
  • Not older than 28 years old while submitting an application for the scholarship.
  • For Masters Candidates: You must be no older than 35 when you apply for the Scholarship.
  • Candidates for the scholarship who fall under the refugee or disabled student categories must be no older than 32 (40 for master’s candidates) at the time of application.
  • An applicant for refugee status must be a verified, acknowledged refugee (refugee attestation).
  • Host Country: Uganda.
  • Eligible Countries: African Countries.
