Overview of the Polonista Nawa 2026 Scholarship
This program promotes Polish language and culture by supporting international students (Undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD) and researchers.
- Focus: Polish language, literature, history, art, and comparative studies.
- Duration: 3 to 12 months for research projects; 1 to 2 semesters for students.
So far, 16 Polish institutions have hosted participants.
- Top for Students: University of Warsaw, Adam Mickiewicz University (Poznań), University of Silesia (Katowice), and Jagiellonian University (Kraków).
- Top for Researchers: Nicolaus Copernicus University (Toruń), Adam Mickiewicz University, and University of Silesia.

- Monthly Stipend: PLN 2,000 (For students)

To date, the program has empowered 281 participants across 26 countries, including Poland. This diverse cohort comprises 225 students and doctoral candidates, alongside 56 dedicated researchers.
Tracks
The scholarship is divided into two main tracks
- Incoming Offer (For Foreigners)
- Students: Those studying Polish philology or Slavic studies abroad who want to spend a semester or two in Poland.
- Scientists: Researchers from foreign academic centers who wish to conduct research in fields like Polish linguistics, history, or art history.
- Outgoing Offer (For Polish Citizens)
- Researchers/Teachers: Polish scholars can receive funding to teach or conduct research at foreign institutions that offer Polish studies or Slavic studies programs.
How to apply For the Polonista Nawa 2026 Scholarship.
- Find a Host university: Before applying, you must contact a Polish university and obtain a “Declaration of Host Institution” (an invitation or consent letter). The university must agree to host your studies or research.
- Register on the NAWA Portal: Go to the website and create an account.
- Fill Out the Electronic Form: Complete the application in either Polish or English.

- Start Early: Don’t wait until April 3rd; the system can get slow due to high traffic near the application closing date.
- Check the Subject: Ensure your project clearly fits within Polish philology, history, art, or culture - projects outside these fields are often rejected.
