Applications are currently being accepted for the 2025 TechWomen program, which provides women in STEM who want to become leaders and changemakers with a life-changing opportunity. Supported by the U.S. Department of State, this esteemed program links up-and-coming female leaders in sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics with American industry professionals and peers.

In addition to attending professional development workshops and participating in cultural exchange programs in Washington, D.C., participants will have the chance to work with top businesses in Chicago or the San Francisco Bay Area. They will broaden their knowledge, advance their careers, and join a global network of more than 1,200 TechWomen alumni from more than 22 countries under the guidance of leading STEM professionals.

The TechWomen program provides an unmatched platform to accomplish your objectives if you have a strong interest in STEM, are dedicated to bringing about change in your community, and are ready to advance as a leader.

Eligibility criteria

  • At the time of application, candidates must have worked full-time in a STEM field for at least two years; internships and unpaid labor are not included toward this criteria.
  • Note — You must have a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent four-year university degree.
  • Also, Candidates must speak and write English fluently.
  • Plus, Albania, Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Yemen, and Zimbabwe are among the nations in which applicants must be citizens or permanent residents.
  • Requirement: Candidates must be qualified for a J-1 exchange visiting visa to the United States.
  • Candidates must not have filed for an immigrant visa to the United States within the previous five years, with the exception of the Diversity Visa.
  • Note — Candidates cannot be citizens or permanent residents of the United States.

  • Requirement: Local transportation to the program cities for group functions.
  • Participants will live in an apartment with another Emerging Leader; they will share the kitchen and living room, but each will have a private bedroom.
