With a focus on agriculture, business, education, environmental studies, public health, and STEM, the U.S. South Pacific Scholarship Program (USSP), funded by the U.S. Department of State, provides fully funded scholarships for Pacific Island students to pursue Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees at the University of Hawaii. The scholarship covers tuition, housing, health insurance, and a living stipend in addition to providing opportunities for mentoring, internships, and cultural exchange.

Eligibility criteria

  • Bachelor’s Scholarship: Eligible candidates must be graduates of secondary school (Form 6 or Grade 12) or have completed some undergraduate coursework but not a four-year degree from an American university.
  • Note — Master’s Scholarship: Candidates must have finished a bachelor’s degree that lasted at least three years. A three-year degree is sufficient to apply for a bridging program that starts up to a year before a master’s. Depending on their educational experience, some people might bypass the bridge.
  • Also, Eligibility Preferences: Candidates with less U.S. experience or those who haven’t studied abroad for a significant amount of time are given preference.
