What Is the WTO Youth Talent Incubator Programme?

The programme equips young professionals with the skills, networks, and applied experience needed to advance gender-responsive trade policy. It builds on the Youth Trade Summit on Gender (November 2023) and the first incubator edition launched in July 2024, which ran for more than eleven months and presented results to the WTO Informal Working Group in December 2025.

The second edition continues that mission: mentoring emerging researchers and government professionals, strengthening policy skills, and connecting participants with WTO Members and international stakeholders.

Programme Structure - Three Pillars

Pillar 1: Mentorship

  • Personalised career mentorship with experienced trade and gender professionals
  • Idea labs, role-playing scenarios, one-on-one mentoring, and career story sharing

Pillar 2: Capacity Building

  • Practical training in economic research, policy drafting, and communication on trade and gender
  • Targeted workshops for applied learning

Pillar 3: Networking

  • Virtual networking and peer exchanges
  • Career sessions with experts, policymakers, and international stakeholders
  • Opportunities to collaborate across research and policy communities

Benefits for Participants

  • Mentorship from experts in trade and gender
  • Applied policy research and capacity-building sessions
  • Professional networking with researchers, policymakers, and WTO-related stakeholders
  • Stronger knowledge of gender-responsive trade policy
  • Exposure to WTO Members and global/regional networks
  • Fully online delivery - no programme fees
