About the Knight-Wallace Fellowships & Wallace House

Established over five decades ago, the Knight-Wallace Fellowships at the University of Michigan represent one of the most prestigious mid-career honors in global journalism. Headquartered at the historic Wallace House, the program gives journalists two rare commodities: time and resources. Rather than producing daily news on deadline, fellows step back to conduct deep investigative research, learn emerging technologies, analyze media business models, or explore complex social issues with top scholars.

The University of Michigan provides Fellows with unfettered access to world-renowned faculties, specialized research libraries, data science labs, and global policy think tanks. In addition to independent study, Fellows engage in private, off-the-record seminars with Pulitzer Prize winners, international editors, technological innovators, and political change-makers.
