About the GeoEconomics Center

GeoEcon is the Atlantic Council’s hub for translating economics and finance into foreign-policy choices - trade, fiscal and monetary policy, digital currencies and payment systems, and the future of the global economic architecture. Interns sit inside that work: events, publications, development and programming strategy, plus data visualisation, research and day-to-day administration (including shared social-media management).

What You Will Do

Support logistics and administration for GeoEcon programming
Help produce daily social posts across platforms
Build data visualisations and keep online products up to date
Edit and prepare research briefs and other publications
Plan events and help run them on the day
Write memos and briefings on current events, stakeholders and emerging issues
Draft speaker briefs, correspondence and notes from roundtables and strategy sessions
Track media mentions, programme metrics and contact lists

What YGP Interns Also Receive

Across the Council’s YGP programme (Spring and Fall cohorts), participants typically also get:

Hands-on research, writing and editorial work
Atlantic Council masterclasses and career-development workshops
A peer and fellow network across 16 programmes and centres
Training on software and operational tools

Housing is not included. Hours can sometimes be adjusted with your supervisor around an academic timetable. You must remain in the United States for the whole internship - remote work from abroad is not allowed.

Required Application Materials

Why this internship? What draws you to this work and this team, and how does it fit your academic or career plans?
Describe an economic or financial topic you have been following closely. What should policymakers or world leaders notice about it?
Describe a time you faced incomplete, inconsistent or difficult data. What did you do, what happened, and what did you learn?

Step-by-Step Application Process

Read the official posting on the GeoEconomics Center YGP Spring 2027 page and the Atlantic Council internships hub.
Prepare your résumé and the three 200-word answers in one file. Do not use AI to write them.
Submit through the Atlantic Council applicant tracking system only, by 8 November 2026, 11:59 p.m. ET. Late applications are not accepted.
Wait. The Council does not give individual status updates. Only people selected for interview are contacted. Offers or declines are sent by 18 December 2026.
