About the Programme
1834 Global is a launchpad for emerging leaders to imagine bold governance solutions, collaborate with high-profile partners, and step into careers as diplomats, policy analysts, and global change-makers. It is offered in collaboration with the Centre for Diaspora and Transnational Studies at the University of Toronto.
Program Activities
- 1834 Global Mixers: Weekly facilitated sessions on diplomacy, governance, advocacy, and policy design
- Research Projects: Policy teams work on real-world global issues with an experienced global-affairs Coach
- 1834 Global Summit: Capstone gathering with policymakers, analysts, nonprofit leaders, and civically engaged Black youth - Fellows present research and connect with institutions shaping global policy
Eligibility
- Aged 20 - 30
- Identify as Black or of African descent
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Interested in international development, diplomacy, or Canadian foreign policy
- Committed to the 9-week virtual programme (~3.5 hours/week)
- Willing and able to travel for the final in-person Summit

- Motivation for global affairs and personal growth
- Language proficiency (English, French, and/or other languages relevant to global work)
