About the Programme
Through short academic visits, the programme fosters long-term collaborations while enriching Cornell students’ education. Visiting Professors engage CAISI faculty, researchers, and students via seminars, guest lectures, and research discussions. The structure supports collaboration rather than creating a Cornell employment appointment.
Benefits
- Access to a global network at the intersection of AI and sustainability
- Engagement with CAISI’s research, education, and innovation community
- Collaboration on projects addressing major sustainability challenges
- Open to faculty at all career stages and from diverse regions
- Multiple short visits so scholars can contribute while keeping home-institution commitments
- Accompanying students may be considered as part of the collaborative plan (resources permitting)
Eligibility
- Faculty members worldwide, at all career stages
- Must be nominated by a CAISI faculty member at Cornell
- Competitive nominations typically show existing or developing engagement with CAISI (prior collaboration, joint activities, or AI4S Seminar Series participation strongly valued)
Nomination Materials
The faculty host submits the nomination form (available only to CAISI faculty). Nominations should cover, where applicable:
- Existing collaborations and past outcomes
- Proposed research collaboration
- Anticipated contributions to CAISI curriculum and academic environment
- Detailed budget plan
Prospective nominees should prepare a CV, expertise summary, past CAISI engagement (if any), collaboration outline, curriculum contributions, tentative visit timing, and a preliminary budget estimate for their Cornell host.
How to Express Interest
- You cannot apply directly. Connect with a CAISI faculty member to discuss research fit and nomination.
- Without prior CAISI ties, start with a research discussion or the AI4S Seminar Series to build host alignment.
- Hosts submit nominations for the 15 October 2026 (or 15 April) review cycle.
