International students can apply for scholarships from the Government of Brunei Darussalam to study at the University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and other esteemed Bruneian universities. This fully funded scholarship includes a $7,800 living stipend in addition to tuition, housing, travel, visa costs, meals, and books.
Southeast Asian oil-rich Brunei has one of the greatest per capita incomes and living standards in the world. It has become a friendly place for international students because English is commonly spoken there. For the academic year 2025 - 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is accepting applications for the Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria
- As of July 1 of the year the course starts, applicants must be no older than 25 for undergraduate and diploma programs or 35 for postgraduate master’s degree programs.
- English proficiency is necessary, as evidenced by one of the following:
- a GCE “O” Level Examination Credit of 6.
- an IGCSE English (as a second language) grade of “C.”
- a 6.0 on the IELTS.
- a minimum TOEFL score of 550.
