Early-career academics from African colleges are invited to Ann Arbor, Michigan, via the University of Michigan African Presidential Scholars Program (UMAPS).
By introducing students to international academic networks and strengthening U-M’s dedication to international research and teaching collaborations across a variety of disciplines, including engineering, literature, and economics, this program fosters the development of the next generation of African academics.
The lodging (private room and bath in a suite), health insurance, research allowance, and a small living stipend will all be fully covered for the chosen scholars. Every year, the UMAPS program runs two cohorts: one from August to December and another from January to May. Both cohorts are filled through a single application cycle. While it is not a guarantee, applicants have the option to indicate throughout the application process the cohort they would prefer to be accepted into.
