Applications are open for the ATRIUM Summer School 2027: Artificial Intelligence for the Humanities - a fully funded two-week training programme at Charles University (ÚFAL / LINDAT/CLARIAH-CZ) in Prague, Czechia, for arts and humanities researchers who want practical AI and text-analysis skills.

Dates: 12 - 23 July 2027. Deadline: 30 November 2026 (ATRIUM Transnational Access / TNA Sixth Call). The course is free; successful TNA participants can claim travel, accommodation, and per diems under host rules.

What You Will Learn

The school presents the technological foundations of Artificial Intelligence in an accessible way for humanities and social science researchers. Participants build theoretical knowledge and practical skills to solve real-world problems with available data and AI methods - particularly text analysis - using tools in the R programming system and navigating technical literature independently.

Graduates should be able to analyse and process data from humanities and social science disciplines and use it for experiments with Artificial Intelligence, including neural networks.

Prerequisites

  • Motivation to experiment with Artificial Intelligence, including neural networks
  • Basic proficiency in the R system
  • Elementary knowledge of systematic data processing and statistical analysis

  • Individual accommodation reimbursed (up to 2,000 Kč per day)

Medical insurance is not provided by the organiser. Expense claims typically require proof of payment and a post-visit report under ATRIUM TNA rules.

Eligibility (ATRIUM TNA Summer School Access)

  • Work or be registered as a student in an institution in an EU Member State or Associated State
  • Apply to a host organisation that is not in the country where you currently reside (Czechia for this school)
  • Not be involved in the ATRIUM project or the same group/department participating in the project
  • Non-EU citizens may apply if they currently work or study in an eligible EU/Associated State institution

  • Current organisation details and early-career researcher status
  • Select Summer School Access and name this Prague school (12 - 23 July 2027)
