What Is the Visiting Fellowship?
The Peter McMullin Centre on Statelessness at the University of Melbourne was established in 2018 to reduce statelessness and protect the rights of stateless people in Australia, the Asia Pacific region, and beyond. The Centre undertakes research, teaching, and engagement on statelessness law and policy.
The 2027 funded Visiting Fellowship provides an opportunity for academic researchers, practitioners, and educators working on statelessness to spend one to two months at Melbourne Law School - collaborating with Centre staff, participating in seminars and workshops, and contributing to the Centre’s research and public engagement.
What Fellows Receive

Application Requirements

- Curriculum vitae and list of publications
- Research plan (maximum 1,000 words) - outline your research, proposed activities and collaboration during the visit, and contribution to the Centre’s work
- Proposed dates of the visit
- Fellowship amount requested (up to a maximum of AUD 6,000) with a budget breakdown, including airfare costs where applicable
- One letter of reference (for non-academic visitors: a letter of support from your employer or professional association)
Fellowship Expectations
Visiting Fellows are expected to fully participate in the life and work of the Centre during their stay, including events and workshops. Scholars typically present their work and may contribute to the Critical Statelessness Studies blog.
